Romanis or Gypsies, as they were called in the past was often very unpopular. Across most of Europe, Romanies were unwanted immigrants. The Romanis of that time were considered as wild and unreliable. Therefore, they were chased out of the country if they were seen traveling around in their mobile homes.From 1554 to 1736 Roma were outlawed in Denmark.
